Akari Ito

Akari Ito joined Pimlico Musical Foundation (PMF) as the Arts Administration Intern for the Autumn term in 2022. She is very happy to work for PMF as she is interested in audience development, community work and philanthropy, particularly in the classical music industry.

Akari has studied classical music and majored in composition. She completed her undergraduate at Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, Japan. At the same time, she took a minor course of arts management and obtained a music teacher license for high schools in Tokyo. Then, she completed her master's degree at King’s College London in the UK. In 2021, she started her career in Tokyo as the assistant of music event producer Atsushi Wada at Imawo Inc. She is also a freelance music typesetter/copyist whose clients include the composer Hiroshi Aoshima who has taught Akari for over 20 years.

Those experiences gave her the idea of a career path to contribute to promoting classical music. Thus, she returned to London and is currently studying MA in Classical Music Business at Middlesex University. This Internship is a part of this course’s curriculum and would be an excellent experience for her future.
