Elijah

Mendelssohn’s Elijah

Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah oratorio is a powerful musical masterpiece that weaves together storytelling from the Old Testament to create a deeply striking experience for audiences.

Drawing inspiration from biblical narratives from the Old Testament, this work showcases the dramatic tale of the prophet Elijah, capturing the essence of human struggle, triumph, and redemption through richly orchestrated melodies and captivating choral arrangements.

Our performance brings together two of PMF’s key programmes, the Foundation Choir (comprised of Foundation Scholars and Teacher-Singers) and the Pimlico Chorus.

Noye’s Fludde

Our original community production of Noye’s Fludde (2023)

On 5th July 2023, two hundred young performers and four hundred audience packed out St Gabriel’s, Pimlico for our original production of Benjamin Britten’s community opera. The performance followed six weeks of educational workshops in five of our partner schools using the story as a tool for teaching about climate change, rewriting traditional hymn texts and unleashing the creativity of the Pimlico community.

After being tipped off that a flood is coming, Noye (played by Gareth Brynmor John) enlists the help of the Pimlico community to help build a boat big enough to survive. This summer, the Pimlico Musical Foundation launches its most ambitious project yet, bringing together hundreds of local schoolchildren, teachers, volunteers, and professional musicians to transform St Gabriel’s, Pimlico into the world of Noye’s Fludde.
