Small Sounds

Small Sounds is our new programme inviting parents and children aged 0-5 to participate in fun music-making! Our first session is on Monday 22nd September at 9.30am, and they will run every Monday during term-time. The programme is all about taking a journey of musical discovery, for you and your little ones through song and play.

Small Sounds offers free drop-in music sessions at St Gabriel’s Church. Your child will be met by expert practitioner Roseanna Dunn, ready to engage your child with music - whether it’s using rattles, playing musical games, or performing puppet shows.

There will be time to socialise before/after the session, so this is great opportunity for your child to mix with others their age, and to meet local parents .

Once per term, there will be special ‘meet the musicians’ sessions, where professional musicians from Pimlico Musical Foundation will perform for you and your child. The session leader will guide listening activities to participate in while the musicians are performing.

You can sign up now to be a part of the music-making. Just hit the link below and enter your details!

  • Roseanna’s approach to working with young voices is individualised and person-centred: she is incredibly excited to be working with the Cathedral Music Trust to build strong musical and interpersonal foundations with children and guardians across Pimlico!

Roseanna is an arts practitioner and conductor based in London and specialising in the voice. She has a wide-ranging wealth of experience working with vocal ensembles, ranging from leading in-school primary-aged choirs across Yorkshire, to coaching Cambridge choral scholars through television and radio performances, to directing sing-for-pleasure ladies’ pop choirs.

Roseanna is also a multi-instrumentalist, regularly performing as a singer, harpist, flautist and pianist: she has years of experience teaching these instruments in group and individual settings, with her previous students ranging from toddlers to senior citizens.

Roseanna holds a distinction-grade master’s degree in music from Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge, alongside a first-class undergraduate degree from Churchill College, University of Cambridge. Simultaneously to running the Small Sounds programme for Pimlico, Roseanna is also: the musical director of the Aurora Choir; working as a composer with ORA Singers, the North Wales International Music Festival, and the Ludlow English Song Festival; the Sound Art and Post-Feminisms editor at Goldsmith’s University’s new journal, Off Kilter.
